I’m gonna be honest, you probably won’t make it. There might be a new kilo. But here are some important things to remember:
It’s likely temporary. You know when you eat 1kg of potato salad – you will weigh 1kg more right? Sometimes the weight is literally food in ya belly. Once your body processes it, remembers your usual lifestyle and gets back into things, that Christmas weight will fade away. So don’t worry about it right now!
In fact, what the hell are you doing weighing yourself at Christmas? There is NO WAY that will be good news, so don’t ruin your day like that. Worry about it when you can actually do something about it.
Despite what your guilt makes you believe: you don’t just eat some extra trifle one day and all of a sudden your hard work for the year flies out the window and you are fat now. That’s not how bodies work.
If you work out regularly, your body is more resilient than you give it credit for. Keep trying to get those training sessions in between family meets and hangovers – and keep getting a bit of salad on the side of that turkey plate. But your body isn’t about to forget everything and stack on weight just because of a couple indulgent days.
Other than that, ENJOY IT.
Are you going to skip Christmas so you don’t put on a few hundred grams? Be honest. Unlikely.
SO LEAVE THE GUILT BEHIND.
Nobody is on their death bed like “waaa why did I drink that beer at Christmas, I’m so gross now”. The things you’ll remember are the times like this – with family, friends, good food and good times.
You won’t eat less just because you feel guilty. So don’t. Guilt does nothing. Oh, except ruin a perfectly good day that we really enjoyed!
You should NEVER feel guilty about something that brings joy and value to your life. Never. You could be hit by a bus tomorrow, no one is going to remember your abs. But they will remember the awesome times they had with you.
Enjoy life fully for the next couple of weeks. Take care of your body and be kind to it. Talk kindly to it.
